Get Ready to Rumble…The Cheese at the 2nd Annual Cheesemonger Invitational

The Lady is swooning; The Man is swooning and even I, your more than simply cool to the core Feline Foodie, am swooning and we’re all wishing we could be at the second annual Cheesemonger Invitational this Friday, July 8th at 7pm. This event is sold out!!!
The Cheesemongers: 40 Cheesemonger from the U.S., Canada, Ireland and Australia will gather in a Long Island City, New York warehouse for a classic cheese-off. Among the challengers are our cheese friends Tim Gaddis of Star Provisions in Hot-lanta, Steve Jones of our Portland’s own Cheese Bar, Mejken “Mike” Poore of Beecher’s Handmade Cheese who gets to taste and be near my most favorite cheese, No Woman; the cheese that started me on this cheese blog journey and Affineur Extraordinaire of Murray’s Greenwich Village, Brian Ralph.
The Challenges: Round 1 is to a chance for the Cheesemongers to introduce themselves to the judges and the crowds; Round 2 will be the Taste Test where the Cheesemongers must blind test 6 pieces of cheese and determine milk type, origin, raw vs. pasteurized, category, age and name. This will be an elimination round for those who can’t “Cut the Cheese”… sorry…I couldn’t resist… in three years of hanging out at this blog, not once have I ever used that phrase; Round 3 will be cutting and wrapping and another elimination if you really can’t “Cut the Cheese” and Round 4 will be the ultimate pairing of one cheese and 2 elements for 11 judges to taste and then decide who will be Second Annual Cheesemonger.
The Prizes: $10,000 in cash and prizes for the three winners.
